What KX1000 is

KX1000 Kick Architect is a browser-based kick design system from Dystant Sounds.

Think of it like a kick plugin in your web browser, paired with a full WAV library for your DAW, sampler, or drum machine.

The idea is simple: stop searching endlessly through one-shot folders, build the kick from the parts that actually matter, then export or use the sounds inside your own workflow.
01

Quick Start

  1. Open KX1000 and press Launch KX1000 to initialise the sound engine.
  2. Press Discover or Randomize to create a kick quickly.
  3. Press Play to hear the current kick.
  4. Use the instant design buttons, layer controls, and main sound controls to refine the result.
  5. In the Full version, press Download WAV to export the kick.
  6. In the Free version, press Unlock Downloads to unlock WAV export and full access.
02

The three-layer system

Transient

The first hit

The click, snap, beater, attack, or front edge of the kick. Use it to make the kick cut through the mix.

Body

The character

The main tone, mass, and personality of the kick. Use it to define the shape and weight of the sound.

Sub

The foundation

The low-end pressure and depth. Use it to give the kick its physical foundation and club weight.

Weight

Pushes the kick toward more low-end body and mass.

Cut

Shapes the kick to sit more clearly in the mix.

Smooth

Controls the kick and softens aggressive edges.

04

Sound controls

Master

Punch

Controls the front-end impact and perceived hit of the kick.

Impact

Controls the strength of the initial hit.

Depth

Controls the low-end foundation and sub pressure.

Length

Controls how long the kick plays. Shorter can be tighter, longer can feel heavier.

Fade

Smooths the end of the kick and helps reduce clicks.

Layer control

Lock, solo, and refine

ControlUse it when
LockYou like a layer and want it to stay the same while exploring the other layers.
Previous / NextYou want to move through sounds in a layer manually.
SoloYou want to hear only the Transient, Body, or Sub layer.
RandYou want to randomize only that specific layer.
Best move: if the sub feels right, lock it. Then keep changing the transient and body until the kick sits properly.
05

Recommended workflows

Fast workflow

Press Discover, press Play, try Punch, Weight, Cut, Smooth, or Polish, then export when it moves the track.

Layered workflow

Solo each layer, lock what works, randomize what does not, then shape the full kick with Master, Drive, Tone, Punch, Impact, Depth, Length, and Fade.

Replacement workflow

Open an unfinished loop, replace the existing kick, then hear what changes when the low end is built with intention.
